I went to visit the Windowology exhibition at the Japan House, and I decided to try their restaurant while I was in the area (given we know there isn’t a lot of great choices anyway).

So up I went into the restaurant, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it was fairly empty and quiet. They briefly hesitated initially, but managed to find me a table. I was mildly amused slash intrigued, because there were perhaps four or five more people in the spacious and nicely designed restaurant, but hey: they knew best.

Halloween Brunch Club at Honey & Smoke

Again, a belated post. And who cares if this talks about something that happened more than a week ago? Not me, I love to see intentionally spooky looking food; dates are nothing when you face the immensity of time. Also, it’s my blog so I write about what I want! 😝

I got us dinner from Honey & Spice last year for our anniversary when we were in the midst of “Lockdown 2: the sequel you knew would happen”. Since it’s quite close to Halloween I also got two surprise bat cookies… which turned out to be a really good surprise after watching a train documentary that went through Transylvania (I did not know we were going to watch this!).

So when I saw that this year there would be an in-restaurant Halloween themed brunch, I didn’t think much, and signed us up quickly!

A serendipitous find in Hampstead Road

Some years ago we were on a bus to Muswell Hill, and we saw the sign for a big-looking shop called “Rupashi Bangla Cash and Carry”, which got me very excited.

It was the year that I had got the “Fresh India” book from Meera Sodha and I was very happy to be learning about Indian food.

I was also on the lookout for supplies, because oftentimes they were whimsically, inexplicably, unavailable from supermarkets. So the sight of a big shop that could sell a huge variety of these things under the same roof and in big portions was MEGA thrilling to me. Thus we said we’d visit some time—after all, it is a short walk from our place.
