Macedonia de otoño (autumn fruit salad)

This is something my grandmother used to make for Sunday lunch… but only once a year! Maybe she got tired of peeling pomegranates and the rest of fruits for six people (and who can blame her!?) 😏

It’s nice to enjoy the new oranges coming into season, with their crisp and sweet flavour… yum! 😋

Ingredients

Makes about 4 servings

  • 1 apple
  • 2 oranges
  • 1 banana
  • A pomegranate, or as many pomegranate seeds as you’d like

Preparation

  1. Deseed the pomegranate (if you didn’t buy it pre-seeded)
  2. Peel the apple, one of the oranges, and the banana
  3. Slice them in small pieces (small enough to be able to eat this with a spoon)
  4. Add them to a deep bowl
  5. Juice the other orange, add to the bowl
  6. Carefully stir; if the liquid doesn’t cover the fruit, you can add some more water. Stir again
  7. Cover and let it rest for a while; if it rests overnight the flavours will be mellower and the fruit will be softer

Serve in small bowls.
